Parking a moving truck in San Francisco without a ticket

July 6, 2024

Check the block at both ends of the move before booking a truck. Look for street cleaning, meters, transit zones, driveways, red curbs, construction, and narrow streets. A large vehicle can turn an ordinary restriction into a costly problem.

If you need dedicated curb space, use the SFMTA’s temporary-signage process. The agency provides temporary tow-away signs for moving vans; confirm lead time, fees, and the exact location before relying on the space.

Coordinate the plan with the driver and the building. Do not assume a temporary reservation cancels every other safety or traffic rule. On move day, read the signs again and keep the truck moving when it must.
