The SF move-in checklist for shared homes
Before moving, confirm the agreement, rent and deposit payment, keys, move-in time, access instructions, and whether the building has rules for elevators, loading, or trash. Put important contacts and the Wi-Fi details in one place.
On arrival, photograph your room and any existing damage. Check locks, lights, outlets, smoke alarms, windows, and the condition of shared spaces. Report material problems promptly in writing.
Then set up the ordinary life of the house: storage, refrigerator space, trash, laundry, mail, and a house chat. A short first-day checklist prevents many later mysteries.
