Handling a roommate who's always late on chores
Ask whether the schedule fits the roommate’s life. Replace “clean sometime this week” with a specific task and deadline. Use a rotation, reminders, or fixed ownership that everyone can see.
When a task is missed, raise it promptly and ask for a completion time. Do not silently take over every time; that trains the household to rely on one person.
If the pattern continues, revise the agreement or discuss a fair compensating arrangement, such as paying for a cleaner if everyone agrees.
