How to resolve roommate conflict before it explodes
Choose a calm time and name one specific behavior. Describe its effect, then ask for a concrete change. “The dishes stayed for three days; can we wash them by the next morning?” is easier to solve than “You never respect me.”
Listen for the other person’s constraint and agree on a testable rule. Write it down if the issue has repeated. Check back after a week.
If there is intimidation, threats, harassment, or immediate safety concern, skip informal conflict work and seek outside help.
