What makes a women's shared home feel safe

February 19, 2025

Look for working locks, clear key control, good lighting, safe building entry, functioning alarms, and a household that can explain its guest rules. Ask how residents handle a lost key, an unwanted visitor, or a repair that affects security.

The social side matters too: people listen when someone says they are uncomfortable, share decisions about common space, and do not normalize boundary violations. A clean room is not enough if residents cannot raise a concern.

The best home makes safety ordinary rather than something one person must manage alone.
