Building a house culture that actually includes people
Write down basic norms, rotate invisible work, and share decisions that affect common space. Invite residents into conversations before the decision is made, not after. Make optional social plans clear as optional.
Notice who gets interrupted, who gets stuck with cleanup, and whose needs are treated as inconvenient. Change the routine rather than asking the same person to keep explaining the problem.
Inclusion is not a house slogan. It is a home where everyone can use space, raise concerns, and be treated with ordinary respect.
