How to handle a discriminatory roommate ad you see
Take screenshots showing the full text, date, account, and link. Do not edit the images. Save any messages that explain a preference or refusal based on a protected characteristic.
Report the listing to the platform or group administrator. If you or someone else was harmed by the ad or denial, consider contacting the San Francisco Human Rights Commission or California Civil Rights Department. Shared-living arrangements can be fact-specific, so an agency can help assess the details.
Do not turn the report into a public pile-on. Documentation and a clear complaint are more useful than speculation.
