How shared-living rules differ from whole-unit rules
Shared homes reasonably need agreements about bathrooms, kitchens, noise, guests, food, cleaning, work calls, pets, and safety. State those rules before move-in and apply them to every resident whose conduct affects the shared space.
Do not turn household rules into exclusions aimed at protected traits. A rule about quiet hours is different from a rule about who is welcome. Some shared-living arrangements have fact-specific legal treatment, so do not rely on a generic internet exception.
Good house rules describe behavior, timing, and space—not stereotypes about people.
