How to find a room that fits a founder's weird hours

May 20, 2025

Say when you take calls, wake up, sleep, cook, and expect visitors. Ask candidates the same questions. Look for a room with a door, a usable call backup, and enough distance from the people who sleep when you work.

Do not promise you will “be quiet” without defining what that means. Agree on headphones, task lights, guests, overnight work, and use of shared spaces. A private room is often worth more than a cheaper shared setup for irregular hours.

The right house does not need to admire the schedule. It needs to be able to live with it.
