The founder's guide to housing during YC
YC says its batches take place in person in San Francisco. Treat housing as a batch operating decision: choose a workable commute, enough sleep, reliable internet, and a lease you understand. Do not assume intensity makes unsafe or informal housing acceptable.
Decide whether founders will live together, how long the arrangement lasts, who signs, and what happens if one person leaves. Use written terms for rent, chores, guests, work calls, and shared equipment.
Keep a short-term backup plan. A calm home is leverage during a demanding batch.
