Just cause eviction in San Francisco, explained
“Just cause” means an eviction is not simply a landlord’s preference that a tenant leave. San Francisco and state law identify possible grounds and impose notice and process requirements. Coverage and exceptions depend on the unit and tenancy.
Read any notice word for word. Identify the reason stated, the deadline, the alleged facts, and whether the notice offers an opportunity to cure a claimed breach. Preserve the envelope and take a photo of any posted notice.
