How much notice does your SF landlord owe you?
Notice for a rent increase, a change to a month-to-month term, entry for repairs, a termination, or an eviction is governed by different rules. The required time can also depend on the tenancy length, lease terms, unit coverage, and the reason given.
Read every notice closely. Save the envelope, photograph the posting, note the date received, and do not assume a verbal warning starts the clock. Compare it with your lease and current official guidance before responding.
If the notice seeks to end your tenancy or asks you to answer court papers, contact a tenant attorney or local eviction-defense resource promptly. A missed deadline can matter more than the landlord’s informal explanation.
