Sharing a studio with a friend: bed, couch, and boundaries
Map the room before moving in. Decide who sleeps where, where clothes and work items go, and which paths remain clear. Use a screen or shelf for visual separation where it does not block light, ventilation, or exits.
Talk about sleep, calls, guests, cooking, cleaning, and time alone. A studio leaves few places to retreat, so each person needs permission to ask for quiet or privacy without guilt.
Confirm rent, utilities, lease status, and the date the arrangement will be reviewed. Friendship makes a hard setup easier only when both people can discuss the hard parts early.
