Couch sharing and mental health: knowing your limits
Living on a couch can make you feel grateful and exhausted at the same time. Lack of privacy, poor sleep, and uncertainty can make anxiety or low mood worse. That is a normal response to an unstable situation, not a personal failure.
Keep a small routine: sleep when you can, spend time outside, eat regular meals, and speak with someone you trust. Use private places for calls and make a practical housing plan with dates and backups.
If you feel unsafe, unable to cope, or at risk of harming yourself, seek immediate local help or emergency support. A couch should not require you to ignore your health.
