How to set a move-out date when you're on the couch

Check in before the deadline if your search is taking longer. Ask whether an extension is possible; do not treat silence as approval. Be prepared to leave if the host says no, and keep a backup option ready.
On move-out day, return keys, remove every item, clean the sleeping area, and settle any contribution. A clear ending protects the relationship and prevents a temporary favor from becoming a dispute.
