Hot-bedding and shift-sharing: how it works and the risks
Hot-bedding means people use the same bed in separate shifts. It may appear in extreme housing scarcity, but it offers little privacy, poor sleep, sanitation concerns, and almost no margin for schedule changes.
It can also create lease, occupancy, and building-safety problems. Before entering any arrangement, check who is allowed to live there, whether the housing is safe, and whether the agreement is voluntary and documented. Never surrender your ID, access to money, or ability to leave.
If a temporary arrangement is unavoidable, set clear schedules, separate bedding, cleaning rules, payment records, and an end date. Seek a safer room or short-term housing as soon as possible.
Low cost does not make a setup safe or sustainable.
