How to find a roommate who respects quiet hours
Do not ask only, “Are you quiet?” Ask what time they usually sleep, how they take calls, whether they host friends, and what they do when they come home late. Specific answers beat a quick yes.
At the viewing, listen to the building and household. Notice speakers, television volume, doors, and how people talk about past conflicts. A person who has lived with quiet hours before will usually understand practical details: headphones, task lights, and advance notice.
Put the agreed hours and exceptions in writing. Respect works best when the rule is clear enough that nobody has to guess.
