The gear that makes shared-room living bearable
Start with good headphones, a warm task light, and an eye mask. Those three items solve a surprising amount of conflict over sound and light.
Add a vibration alarm, charging cable long enough to reach your bed, under-bed storage, and a small lockbox for documents and medication. A fan or white-noise machine can help with sleep, but use it at a volume that does not become another nuisance.
If privacy is the problem, consider a curtain, open shelf, or folding screen after measuring the room and checking airflow. Do not buy large furniture until both roommates agree on its placement.
The right gear is quiet, compact, and useful to both people’s routines. It should not turn a shared room into an obstacle course.
