How two people can share one closet without a war
Empty the closet before dividing it. Measure hanging space, shelves, floor area, and the back of the door. Then assign equal usable space, accounting for long clothes, shoes, and drawers.
Use matching hangers and labeled bins so the division stays visible. Seasonal items should go under the bed or into a separate bin, not creep into the other person’s section. Leave a small buffer for laundry and new purchases.
Agree on a rule for overflow: one person cannot claim extra space simply because they bought more clothes. Review the closet every few months, especially before a season change.
The aim is not a beautiful closet. It is a closet where neither roommate has to ask permission to get dressed.
