How to find a room that allows your work-from-home setup
Tell the household that you work from home before the tour. It is better to lose a mismatch early than to surprise people with daily calls after moving in.
Measure the room for a desk and chair. Check outlet placement, cellular reception, natural light, and whether the door closes. Ask about internet provider, typical speed, reliability, and how many people take video calls at once. Do not rely on a single speed test from an empty apartment.
Discuss noise and shared space. Can you take calls in the room? Are there quiet hours during the day? Is the kitchen table available for occasional work, or is it a family space? Agree on these expectations in writing if they matter to your job.
A workable WFH room is not necessarily large. It is predictable.
