How to find a sunny room in a foggy city
Ask which direction the room faces and when the photo was taken. A west-facing room may be bright late in the day; an east-facing room may be best in the morning. Nearby buildings, trees, bay windows, and deep setbacks can matter more than the address.
Tour during the time you expect to work or relax there. If that is impossible, request an unedited phone video from the window at that hour. Notice whether the room needs lights on in the middle of the day and whether heat builds up in the afternoon.
Sunlight is not only an aesthetic choice. It affects mood, plants, drying laundry, and how large a room feels. But do not trade away safety, ventilation, or a workable lease just for a bright photo.
Look for the light you will actually use, not the light a listing happened to capture.
