Bring evidence: savings statements with sensitive details redacted, a guarantor if you have one, prior landlord references, freelance contracts, or an offer that starts soon. Do not invent income. A short, honest explanation is easier to trust than a vague one.
Consider a month-to-month or furnished sublet while you interview. It can cost more per month but gives you time to learn commute patterns and avoid committing before your work location is clear.
Keep the budget conservative. Housing insecurity makes a job search worse; leave enough cash for food, transit, and an unexpected extension.
