How to tell if a room is worth the rent
A room’s rent is only the beginning. Compare the total monthly cost: utilities, internet, laundry, parking, transit, and the furniture you will need to buy. A slightly higher rent can be cheaper if it avoids a long commute or a large setup bill.
Then judge the room itself. Can your bed, desk, and storage fit? Is there daylight, ventilation, a working lock, and enough quiet to sleep? Look at the condition of shared spaces and how many people use them.
The household has value too. Clear agreements, reliable bill payment, a real lease, and compatible schedules are worth money. So is a location that makes your daily life easier.
