What to bring to a room viewing in SF

July 14, 2026

Bring your phone, a short list of questions, and a way to take notes. After several viewings, the details blur: room dimensions, street noise, bathroom sharing, and whether the kitchen had the equipment you use.

If you are serious, keep a secure digital application packet ready: identification, proof of income or savings, references, and contact information for a guarantor if you have one. Share only what is necessary, and ask how documents will be stored or deleted.

Bring a measuring tape if furniture fit matters. Wear shoes you can remove easily. Arrive on time and give the household your full attention; a tour is also a small interview.

Do not bring cash to prove you are serious. A legitimate household can accept an application before it expects any money.
